The Cost of a Memorable Experience Gift

“How much does a memorable experience cost?”

The answer is obvious to all who have lived a little.

“Not much”.

One of life’s most valuable lessons is that the best things are free.

So build on that lesson when thinking about giving an experience gift.

If it’s more than a trite saying that “the best things in life are free” then how much do you have to spend to give a memorable gift of experience? A so-called experience gift or the gift of an experience day or a family day out gift?

“Not much”.

In the running and rushing about of modern life it is more true than ever that one of the most precious and remembered gifts we give one another is the gift of our time and our personal attention and real care to one another.

You can gift a gift of yourself, your time, your care, your skills to someone in so many ways:

By cooking someone a special meal
By having someone join you in riding bikes on a sunny day when they haven’t ridden a bike in a long time
By simply lending a hand

The possibilities are as endless as your creativity, your imagination, your empathy, your kindness, your caring or even your sense of humor or adventure – hopefully shared with the recipient.

And remember that it’s often the sharing of an experience, not how much was spent, that makes for a truly enjoyable, wonderful and memorable experience.

Cosmic Family Experience

Throughout my childhood I was fortunate enough to travel far and wide with my family. We traversed the lush lands of Stone Henge, the historic city of London, and a variety of tropical islands. However, in all of my travels, one of my favorite experiences takes place out west.

Someone once told me, people who take time to look at the trees and appreciate the beauty of mother nature are deep romantics. While I’m still waiting for that to be proven true, I spend my time taking in the rolling hills, vibrant flowers, and star lit sky.

The stars have always fascinated me; the fact that when we look up into these sparkling lights, we are looking into the past. Who is to say these luminous balls of plasma are still there? Since the light travels from billions of light years away, we may in fact be looking at the last years of life of these magnificent stars. This bit of history led to my greater appreciation for my Cosmic Family Experience.

At the adventurous age of ten, I traveled with my family out west on a road trip adventure to the Grand Canyon. Little did I know I would stumble across the cosmic experience of my lifetime.

While traveling through South Dakota we stopped at a small, very small, “quaint” inn as my parents would call it. Out on the great plains of South Dakota, we were housed up in individual apartments, which each had two twin sized beds. I was the least of thrilled to be sharing this small of a bed with my brother. In retrospect, I wonder how my full grown parents managed to both squeeze in!

However, my eye opening cosmic experience did not take place in this small room. Naturally, being a young girl out on the great plains, I was absolutely terrified of tarantulas. I have great fear for the small spiders that roam my home in the winter, and the thought of fully grown spiders the size of my palm practically paralyzed my every movement towards the outdoors.

While watching my step up the rocky mountainside I stumbled on a large rock and caught myself on the ground. Before I could leap up in horror of the spiders that could be crawling on me, my eyes caught the most magnificent picture- the night sky. I literally double blinked since my mind couldn’t believe the fascinating picture they were taking in. It appeared as though someone had just opened an enormous poster of the night sky that you would see in magazines like Natural Geographic.

At home I would always look into the night sky and try to find Orion’s belt constellation. Here, I could see straight into the Milky Way. The whole sky was illuminated with thousands of sparkling stars, and my breath was literally taken away. This natural masterpiece was a picture back in time, light that traveled billions of light years to reach my eyes.

Till this day this picture lights up in my mind as clear as the night sky on that night in the great plains. To take a look into the past by gazing upon the night sky will always intrigue and mystify my mind. So, on your next vacation out west, forget about the spiders, and make sure you enjoy a Cosmic Family Experience.

Near Death Experience: The Aftermath

Near Death Experiences are one of the most eye opening experiences in life. One moment you are faced with what could be the end, and in your last gasping breath you are suddenly ‘snatched from the jaws of death.’

Many people who have experienced a Near Death Experience say that they are grateful for their close encounter with the end. This terrifying but awakening experience provides a second opportunity for people at the end of their rope, and often times brings about a complete life change. After a Near Death Experience people reevaluate their goals, their priorities, and even their own character.

Near Death Experience: The Spiritual Travel

People have had close encounters with death since the day man walked earth. However, over the past few decades, many psychologist and doctors have taken a deeper look into this fascinating spiritual experience.

People have stared death right in the face have reported a broad range of sensations and developments that occur during their personal NDE. To many people, this out of body experience becomes a form of spiritual travel. Some researchers believe that these people have actually taken a glimpse into “the beginning of the end.” Since each person is different, every individual has a unique experience. Many times people report a feeling of detachment from the body, a warming sensation, total serenity, and various forms of light.

My college psychology professor once told us his story of his Near Death Experience. During cardiac arrest at the young age of thirty-one, he had a sensational experience, which he later recognized as a NDE. He vividly remembers the relaxed sensation that swept his body, and the spheres of light that passed him by as his mind was shooting through a dark tunnel. Suddenly he was awoken by the shocks to his heart as he was driven to the hospital.

Near Death Experience: The Research

Dr. Raymond Moody is famous for coining the term “Near Death Experience,” and has devoted his life to researching this mysterious out-of-body journey. Moody is most famous for his book/movie, “Life After Life,” which earned him a bronze medal in the New York Film Festival.

During his research Dr. Raymond Moody conducted a study of 150 people had been announced clinically deceased, or had experienced a Near Death Experience. In his research Moody discovered the nine most common sensations during a NDE. These are the following nine experiences:

• hearing sounds such as buzzing
• a feeling of peace and painlessness
• having an out of body experience
• a feeling of traveling through a tunnel
• a feeling of rising into the heavens
• seeing people, often dead relatives
• meeting a spiritual being such as God
• seeing a review of one’s life
